Erik Christiansen, ESG & Low Carbon Solutions Specialist at Scientific Beta, will be taking part in the annual meeting of the German-speaking investor community where he will be conducting a presentation on "Three misconceptions about combining ESG objectives with a factor strategy".

Erik Christiansen, ESG & Low Carbon Solutions Specialist at Scientific Beta, will be conducting a presentation at the Markets Group 3rd Annual Germany Institutional Forum on December 12, 2019 in Frankfurt entitled "Three misconceptions about combining ESG objectives with a factor strategy" which will examine the following misconceptions: i) integrating ESG and carbon data with the drivers of factor returns will produce factor strategies with enhanced risk/reward profiles; ii) an ESG policy based on exclusions is too blunt and simplistic to be part of a state-of-the-art factor strategy and ESG engagement framework; and iii) tilting to value and low volatility stocks leads to higher carbon intensity, therefore decarbonizing a multi-factor strategy will lead to lower rewards from factor exposures.

He will also be hosting a breakout education peer-to-peer discussion on ESG & Equity Factor Investing, enabling participants to share viewpoints, ask questions and make connections.

Erik Christiansen, CFA is Senior Consultant with Scientific Beta.
