Daniel Aguet, Deputy CEO & Index Director at Scientific Beta, will be speaking at the RIAA Conference Aotearoa NZ 2024, the largest event for sustainable business and responsible investment in New Zealand, at a workshop on the theme "Making climate claims in product labelling: A practical guide".

This practical workshop will look at what is involved in meeting the requirements of RIAA’s Certification Program in relation to climate-related claims. It will also answer some of the most pressing questions including:

- Do all phrases and terms need to be defined?
- What information is required when describing fossil fuels exclusions?
- What about minority investments of portfolio constituents?
- How should products advertise climate-related performance of the portfolio in periodic reporting?
- What information is required when describing emissions indicators, calculations and estimates?
- Do the photos we use on our website matter?

Hosted by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) in Auckland on 19 September, 2024, this conference brings together sustainability leaders and industry practitioners to delve into the pressing issues, practical work, and detailed insights that define this dynamic landscape today.

The conference provides the opportunity to learn from the best in the industry, engage with crucial topics, connect with like-minded professionals and lead the way in turning discussion into tangible progress.

The conference is centred around the notion that New Zealand has moved beyond simply discussing the maturity and professionalisation of responsible investment and is now deep into the practicalities, addressing the nuts and bolts of the industry. With a new government and mandatory climate-related disclosures set in place and significant developments like the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy in the horizon, this event will explore the government's future plans to unlock a sustainable, low-emissions future. In an era marked by complex geopolitical challenges and economic uncertainties, understanding the interplay between local actions and global trends is more important than ever. This conference will provide a platform for discussing how these global issues impact sustainable finance and responsible investment in New Zealand.
