Erik Christiansen, ESG and Low Carbon Solutions Specialist at Scientific Beta, will be hosting an IPE webcast entitled "Net-Zero Alignment and Fossil-Free Investments: What is the Role and Impact of Fossil Fuels Divestment for Reaching Net-Zero Goals?" on 13 April, 2021 at 3.00 pm BST / 4.00 pm CET.

Erik Christiansen, ESG and Low Carbon Solutions Specialist at Scientific Beta, will be hosting an IPE webcast entitled "Net-Zero Alignment and Fossil-Free Investments: What is the Role and Impact of Fossil Fuels Divestment for Reaching Net-Zero Goals?" on 13 April, 2021 at 3.00 pm BST / 4.00 pm CET.

The webcast, moderated by Brendan Maton of IPE, will examine the following questions: 

• How crucial is phasing out fossil fuels in 1.5°C scenarios?
• What level of differentiation between different fossil fuels is justified?
• What are the theoretical and empirical arguments for the fossil-free investment movement?
• Is it naïve to take the forward-looking commitments of fossil fuels companies into account?
• What is the most effective way for investors to influence companies?
• What are the risks of broad-stroke fossil fuel divestment strategies?

Erik Christiansen is an ESG & Low Carbon Solutions Specialist with Scientific Beta. He was previously Head of Investment Strategy with the Etablissement de Retraite Additionnelle de la Fonction Publique (ERAFP), the mandatory pension scheme for French civil servants, where he was responsible for implementing the equity and ESG strategies. He has also previously worked as a Methodology Coordinator and Analyst at Vigeo Eiris, the ESG rating agency. Erik holds a Master’s degree in Management from the ESCP Business School and is a CFA charterholder.
