"(...) The Responsible Investment Association of Australasia (RIAA) has approved two indices offered by quant-based specialist, Scientific Beta, as up to spec under a new program introduced this September.

RIAA certified the Scientific Beta Global RI Climate+ and Australia RI Climate+ indices as part of the responsible investment industry body’s bid to expands its range from funds and advisory groups.

Index providers were the major sponsors at the RIAA NZ conference this year, highlighting the increasingly influential role of benchmark providers in the environmental, social and governance investment world.

In a release, Warwick Schneller, Scientific Beta in Australia and New Zealand head of investment solutions, said the RIAA certification adds another layer of assurance for investors.

"As sustainable investing goes mainstream, public expectations of the claims being made are rising,” Schneller said. “RIAA certification provides investors with confidence that the indices are independently validated, transparent and true to their investment claims." (...)"
