The Desjardins RI Emerging Markets Multi-Factor Low CO2 ETF received the Lipper Awards for its three-year performance with an investment strategy that tends to favor smaller, more innovative companies than the broader market, explains Pierre-Luc Vachon, responsible investment analyst at Desjardins Group Wealth Management (DGAM) in Montreal. Desjardins’ low-carbon mandate is designed to filter out the largest carbon emitters by sector and country. “We try not to take too many country bets with this strategy; The aim is to really make the factor and ESG work and not necessarily country bets,” says Mr. Vachon. His fund is down 1.78 percent this year through Nov. 8 and has returned more than 29 percent in 2021. Its benchmark, the Scientific Beta Desjardins Emerging RI Low Carbon Multifactor Index, is down 14.3 percent this Nov. 8 and 4.7 percent in 2021. (...)"
