At the forum, Joseph Simonian, Senior Investment Strategist at Scientific Beta, will be interviewed on the importance of process in equity factor investing and will also be hosting a roundtable at the networking luncheon on 27 September on the subject, where participants will be able to interact with him, ask questions and make connections.

Scientific Beta will be participating in the 10th Annual Texas Institutional Forum on 26-27 September, 2023, organised by Markets Group in Austin, which aims to provide insight into selected areas of interest for the regional institutional investor community, including pensions, endowments, foundations, hospital plans, insurance companies and investment consultants. 

At the event, on 26 September, Joseph Simonian, Ph.D., Senior Investment Strategist, at Scientific Beta, will be interviewed on the importance of process in equity factor investing. This fireside chat will focus on the importance of using a properly designed investment process when building equity factor portfolios. In particular, it will address the benefits of using economically intuitive factors, large and varied data sets, and robust model validation. This discussion is intended to provide asset owners with a practical set of criteria that they can apply when evaluating providers of equity factor strategies.

Joseph will also be hosting a roundtable at the networking luncheon on 27 September on the subject, where participants will be able to interact with him, ask questions and make connections.

Over the last 17 years Joseph has held senior portfolio management and research positions in several asset management firms, including PIMCO, Fidelity, Natixis Investment Managers, and JP Morgan Asset Management. He is also the founder and CIO of Autonomous Investment Technologies LLC. Joseph is a noted contributor to leading finance journals and is also a prominent speaker at investment events worldwide. He is currently the co-editor of the Journal of Financial Data Science, on the editorial board for The Journal of Portfolio Management, and advisory board member for the Financial Data Professional Institute. Joseph is the author of over 40 academic publications. Joseph also has vast experience in teaching both in academia and industry. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara; an M.A. from Columbia University; as well as a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
