Scientific Beta

Scientific Beta periodically reviews its indices to question their continued relevance and quality in changing market conditions and may update index definitions and methodologies if required to achieve these goals.

Proposals for changes to methodologies are prepared by the Research and Index Offering Committee and reviewed by the Index Oversight Committee. The latter may issue recommendations questioning the rationale and/or proposed implementation of the changes and/or provide advice regarding these proposals. It may also request Consultations with relevant Stakeholders regarding the proposed changes.

Taking into consideration the feedback and, where relevant, the recommendations produced during the review process, the Research and Index Offering Committee may choose to go ahead with its initial proposal, submit a new proposal to the Index Oversight Committee or withdraw its project.

While final decisions with respect to changes to methodologies reside with the Research and Index Offering Committee, the Index Oversight Committee records instances when the former Committee has acted or proposes to act contrary to its recommendations.

When the decision to implement a change is final, it is announced to the relevant Stakeholders; the announcement specifies what the change entails and when it is to be applied.

In case a consultation has been held, the Research and Index Offering Committee and the Index Oversight Committee review the contributions received from respondents and a summary of these comments and of the responses provided is made available to the relevant Stakeholders after the end of the consultation period.
